| Role:
junior developer Senka was the only woman in champ firm, if we don't
count Dodoni's accountant "for whom it was difficult to say whether
she was a woman or a man", as one of the employees once said. She came
to the firm six months before Bojan as a fresh mathematics graduate.
She was young, enthusiastic and she expected from her new firm to
provide her with opportunity to learn, prove herself and gain
experience in programming. She was pretty much like Bojan in those
expectations,
and also as him, she had no experience working in software firm and in
real software team. Dodoni hired her as a junior programmer for
minimal wage and because of that and the fact that she was a woman she
had to do all the dirty and unwanted tasks that other male colleagues
avoided or hated to do. That included debugging or finishing other
people's code, designing reports, small and dull programming tasks and
so on.
Chief Zakro and his pet head developer Krunoslav showed so little
respect for her that for first few weeks in Dodoni she wasn't assigned
one serious task. Instead, she had to ask other colleagues if they had
some tasks to delegate to her. Patrik was the most understanding of
them all and Senka began to work on some small tasks in his REAL
project.
When Bojan came to Dodoni, her morale was already very low and it was
obvious that she was near quitting. At the time Bojan didn't know why,
but soon he found out the main cause of Senka's despair, when he
started working on the projects managed by Zakro and designed by his
favourite assistant Krunoslav Stinky.
Two months after Bojan arrived to firm, Senka quit. She found a new
job in a software department of big Croatian bank, where she expected
to find more opportunities for self-improvement and possibly better
organization than in Dodoni. Unfortunately, she soon realized that her
new firm is not much better than Dodoni and that she is surrounded by
people like Zakro and Stinky. In other words, champions are
everywhere.
